About Me
Professor Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki is a Professor of Soil Science and the Vice Chancellor & CEO of KCA University in Kenya, which prides itself as a premier Business and Technology University of Choice in East Africa and beyond. He holds a BSc in Agriculture Honours, MSc (University of Nairobi) and PhD in Soil Science (Egerton University).
Professor Wakindiki is an accomplished scholar with a proven track record evidenced by over eighty-five (85) publications in high-impact refereed journals, over 43 conferences and book chapters. Most importantly, he has won over 49 funded projects, several consultancies and grants, e.g. from the USAID, International Foundation for Science (IFS) of Stockholm, German Ministry of Economic Cooperation (BMZ) and the National Research Foundation of South Africa. In addition, he has successfully supervised over forty-five (45) postgraduate students at both Masters and PhD levels and examined many thesis and research projects.
Prof. Wakindiki won the Vice Chancellor’s Senior Researcher award in 2012 at the University of Fort Hare and in 2017 at the University of Venda. Previously, he was the Research Professor at the University of Venda, the Research Team Manager for natural resources at the Agricultural Research Council, and Professor and Head of the Agronomy Department at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa. He also served for many years as a Senior lecturer at Egerton University, Kenyatta University, and the Technical University of Kenya (Then Kenya Polytechnic).
He served as a post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Agricultural Research Organization (ARO) of the State of Israel – Institute of Soil, Water and Environmental Sciences (Volcani). He has been a consultant with the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD/USAID), where he analyzed the capacity of public, private and non-governmental organizations and regional and international research and development research in Kenya to deploy drought-tolerant high-yielding crop varieties through research.
Professor Wakindiki is a member of the Soil Science Society of South Africa and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. He is a Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa and the former Chairman of the University Council at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology (JOOUST).
Prof. Wakindiki has a wealth of experience in the resource mobilization arena with a global touch. His focus, ability and action towards transforming the University in all areas is evident. Hence, he brings to the Board as the Vice Chancellor & CEO of KCA University the much-needed push that would enable the Foundation to realize its resource mobilization objectives.
